Waldotronics Reverb Tank

It was once stated by Jerry in an article that reverb was “half” his sound. Waldo, naturally, didn’t ignore this golden nugget of information in his quest for the ultimate tone, and has brought us one of the easiest amplifier mods you can do: replacing your reverb tank with one that has the correct specs. Well, here’s the one you’ve been searching for!

Specs:

• Specially manufactured by Accutronics for Waldo

• F-pan 4AB2A1C tank

• 2-spring

• 17 inches wide

• medium decay (1.75 to 3.0 sec)

From Waldo:

“These are a reproduction of the Gibbs F Pans, made originally for the Fender Reverb Unit - after sourcing and researching many original Gibbs F pans and modern Accutronics pans of similar specs, I found most all current production pans to be too “surfy” in nature. With the F-pan specs in hand, I approached the current owners of the Accutronics brand in pursuit of having them remake these pans. They have to stop their production line to manufacture these, and gratefully, they obliged.”

And if you’ve ever wondered why the twin reverbs were put on their side:

"We stand the Fenders on end so the springs stand vertically and are far less subject to banging against the tank shell when the stage is bouncing around. Also make sure the tank you have is in perfect condition with the proper impedance of each transducer as well as the spring couplings being in place and in good condition. Be sure you have the inputs and outputs connected correctly." - Dan Healy

Please note:

• This will replace any reverb tank on a tube guitar amp equipped with analog spring reverb.

• Please ensure the 17” width is compatible with your amplifier (this is designed for use in twin reverbs and others similarly wide amps). If this is too wide for your amp, it will still connect, but you will have to carry it externally in a reverb tank bag, and plug it in each time. 

• Sarno SMS Classic users: this is not intended for use with an SMS Classic tube preamp, as you need something to drive the circuit and that preamp is equipped with onboard digital reverb  

• Sarno Spectrum users: this WILL work as a replacement, and is a wonderful flavor of reverb to add to any existing rig.
